Program Overview

The Path Formation Program encompasses support for families who desire their children to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion and Reconciliation (Sacrament of Penance). This formation program requires regular attendance at weekend Masses and participation in activities that are designed to be offered at home with the support of the Parish. The children will also take part in Children’s Liturgy of the Word which is offered throughout the Parish community at various Mass centres on a weekly basis.

To ensure families are supported we keep in regular contact with families by providing opportunities to attend regular meetings facilitated by members of the Parish Sacramental Team. The Path also works in conjunction with The Atrium, offering the children who are not able to attend Atrium sessions the opportunity to work with materials from The Atrium in their own homes. The Path formation is suitable to children from the age of 5 to 12 years.

Our Logo

The Path Formation Program logo utilises the colour blue from our community logo representing the waters of creation and baptism. The overlay of cobblestones represents out journey towards a new creation and how we are guided along our journey.

Formation Program Contact Information

Faith formation is an integral part of the life of a Christian. We are formed in the life and teachings of Jesus so that we may become more attentive to the needs of the world; going beyond ourselves and living the Gospel in our homes and communities. This formation takes many shapes throughout the seasons of our lives, and we as a community are committed to creating a sort of “training ground” so that we may be constantly sent out into the world, equipped and intentional in our love for others. Below you will find some information about formation at the Ipswich Catholic Community. For the most up to date information please check out our latest newsletter.

In addition, at St. Mary’s Church, Leaders and members will be available to meet for 30 minutes after the 8:00am Sunday Mass for tea/coffee and a chat. Children can play in the school playground; members from The Hive will spend some time with the children as they play.
